In various applications rubber is bonded to brass aluminium or steel for sealing, cushioning and abrasion resistance requirements. It is the rubber that bears the brunt of sealing, cushioning and abrasion resistance whereas the metal acts as the bearing surface of the rubber. The gloves are basically made of impermeable compounded butyl rubber .The tricky part is that one who wears it must be protected completely for the duration of the time he is to work in the environment and secondly it has to allow him to work. So a critical balance of properties has to be maintained.
